Evening Talk: Getting Friendly with Fungi

Get an introduction into the fascinating world of fungi. What are fungi, why do they matter, and how do they interact with plants, animals, and ecosystems in Southern California.  Learn how to search for, identify, and perhaps even use fungi.
 
Joanne will share insights from decades of studying and documenting fungi locally and around the world.  Journey with her as she weaves together ecology, community science, and stunning photography.
 
Joanne Schwartz is an avid amateur mycologist and local mushroom expert. She has collected and photographed fungi throughout the world and has participated in field studies in Peru and Bolivia as well as California’s redwood forests and the Santa Cruz Island Reserve.
