Workshop: Creating Bonsai with Dwarf Camellia
Join Debra Mauzy-Melitz from the Orange Empire Bonsai Society to learn how to maintain and display a camellia in a traditional Japanese style. During the class you will prepare a dwarf camellia to be grown into a traditional windswept design, called Fukinagashi. After repotting the camellia into an asymmetric pot, you will learn how to wire the branches to encourage directional growth.
No experience is necessary for the class and there will be an opportunity to practice wiring before working on the plant itself. You will take home a dwarf camellia from Nuccio’s Nurseries, and the knowledge to develop your camellia bonsai over the coming years.
